Grandiosa’s Mandarin Cookies is a 22% THC Indica leaning cross between GSC (formerly Girl Scout Cookies) and a selected phenotype of Mandarin Sunset. According to Grandiosa's website, Mandarin Cookies is high in Caryophyllene, Limonene, Bisabolol, Humelene, and Linalool and may offer relief to patients struggling with chronic pain and inflammation, feelings of stress and anxiety, depression, appetite loss, and insomnia.
GSC is an award-winning cultivar and is a cross between OG Kush and Durban Poison, with some rumours suggesting the inclusion of Granddaddy Purple in its genetics. California rapper Berner, whose real name is Gilbert Millam Jr., was the mastermind who capitalized on the popularity of GSC, giving rise to the entire Cookies brand, which has since become a prominent name in the cannabis world. With its light green and purple-hued buds, GSC is renowned for its pungent, dessert-like aroma and flavour profile, characterized by bold notes of mint, sweet cherry, and lemon. GSC’s dominant terpenes are Caryophyllene, Myrcene and Limonene and she is typically recommended for patients looking for relief from symptoms associated with chronic pain, nausea, and appetite loss.
Mandarin Sunset bred by Ethos Genetics Colorado, USA, is a blend of Herijuana and Orange Skunk. This multi-award-winning cultivar paved the way for other Ethos Genetics cultivars such as Citradelic Sunset and Mandarin Zkittlez. An easy-to-grow plant, perfect for beginners Mandarin Sunset is often associated with a heavy, sedative high and is described as having a citrusy sweet aroma paired with a uniquely earthy pungent flavour. Mandarin Sunset’s dominant terpenes are Pinene, Myrcene and Caryophyllene and she is typically recommended for patients trying to manage stress, anxiety, mild to moderate pain, and insomnia symptoms.
Review
Opening my 10-gram black plastic tub of Grandiosa’s Mandarin Cookies (Batch: GH1-B3-PR003-SM-4) I’m met with a citrusy aroma that’s underscored with an earthy diesel scent.
Mandarin Cookies’ buds have the classic cone shape paired with a vibrant bright green colour and the occasional blueish purple leaf mixed in for good measure. The buds were generously coated with trichomes and vivid orange pistils. While Mandarin Cookies' buds were tacky to the touch, they didn’t pass the Sticky Icky Test as they lacked bounce back.
However, let's talk about that trim job... I've mentioned before that Tasmanian Botanics isn't exactly hosting Trim 101 Workshops anytime soon, but come on, Grandiosa, why you gotta do me so dirty?
Starting at 175C Grandiosa’s Mandarin Cookies is smoother than I had originally anticipated and has a complex flavour that’s citrus and sweet but yet very earthy and gassy. Sometimes, I found it very enjoyable, but other times, it was a bit too much and slightly off-putting.
Mandarin Cookies brings back memories of something I'd have enjoyed during nights out with my sorority sisters in my 20s at university. It consistently delivered a happy, energetic buzz easily leaving me stress and anxiety-free. The only downside I found with Mandarin Cookies, in terms of its effects, was the munchie attacks this flower induced on the back end, something I always try to avoid.
Will I refill this prescription? Probably not. I feel like everyone should have a cultivar in their arsenal that’s a giggly good time and makes them feel young again… But at $136 for a 10-gram tub that contained one of the most atrocious trim jobs to date paired with attacks of the munchies, something I always try to avoid… Grandiosa’s Mandarin Cookies could’ve been a four but I can’t get over 0.68 grams worth of stems when the tub only weighed 10.03, to begin with.

A great review. Initially I had hoped Grandiosa was going to be a regular in my regime. I haven’t had much success with them. Last product that I had was Jilly Bean. It could have been parsley for the aroma it contained and totally dry. Reminded me of potpourri. This was another product of theirs I had my eye on but at this stage I’ve given up on them. Some companies I haven’t tried yet that look of some interest are Sundaze and Maali.
Thanks for the another terrific review. Do wonder what there paying for these trim jobs. Think these companies need more feedback of patients or they'll just keep putting out what they think is quality. Has been a long time since I've seen a good review of any Grandiosa flowers.
