Quick update before we dive in: I did not take home a win at the Cannabiz Awards on Thursday night, but honestly, just being a finalist in the Best Education/Engagement Initiative category was an incredible honour. I’m beyond grateful for the support and recognition. That said… I’m seriously considering starting a petition to add a People’s Choice Award to the 2026 lineup. Who’s with me?
Heyday’s Biscotti Gushers is an Indica-dominant hybrid medicinal cannabis flower with a cannabinoid profile that includes 22% THC, along with 1.5% CBC and 2.5% CBG. Bred from a cross between Biscotti and Gushers, it is organically grown in living soil, outdoors in the Kekerengu microclimate of New Zealand, in partnership with Puro NZ. Biscotti Gushers is hand-harvested and hand-trimmed, then live-dried immediately after harvest. Notably, this is the first medicinal cannabis flower on the Australian market to use a live drying technique, a method designed to preserve volatile terpenes by avoiding prolonged curing. Biscotti Gushers’ most dominant terpenes are Caryophyllene, Limonene, Humulene, and Pinene.
Biscotti, originally bred by Cookie Fam Genetics, is an Indica-dominant hybrid created by crossing South Florida OG and Gelato #25. Biscotti’s buds are spade-shaped, dark olive green, and accented with long dark orange hairs. The flavour is said to be similar to a sweet, sugary cookie with a rich, spicy exhale, while the aroma blends earthy herbs and fruity notes. High in Limonene, Caryophyllene, Linalool, and Myrcene, Biscotti is commonly recommended for patients dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.
Gushers is a slightly Indica-dominant hybrid cannabis cultivar created by crossing Gelato #41 and Triangle Kush. Its buds are typically elongated and olive green with bright green leaves, thin amber hairs, and a dense coating of amber crystal trichomes. Gushers delivers a sweet and sour flavour profile reminiscent of tropical fruit and creamy cookies, with an aroma that includes herbal notes and spicy grapes. It’s known for producing a tingly cerebral euphoria followed by full-body relaxation, without heavy sedation. Gushers is typically high in Limonene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Linalool, and is often used by medicinal cannabis patients in the US to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and pain.
Review
Opening my 10-gram amber glass jar of Heyday's Biscotti Gushers (batch DF25B11), I’m greeted by mild chlorophyll notes, which faded into a subtle rockmelon and honeydew melon-like aroma. There’s a quiet sweetness beneath the surface. It’s creamy, fruity, and slightly floral, but the nose isn’t especially loud.
Within the jar, I found four nicely sized buds weighing roughly 1.75 grams each, along with a lot of smaller buds. They featured a classic spade shape, bright green hues, dark brown pistils, and a healthy dusting of trichomes.
However, a lot of the trichome heads were missing. Because trichomes are delicate by nature, my best guess is that the heads were probably snapped off during the live drying process.

This was my first experience with a live-dried flower, so I approached the Sticky Icky Test with a slightly adjusted perspective.
Despite a somewhat mediocre trim, Heyday’s Biscotti Gushers’ buds felt spongy and a little airy, but had no real bounce-back when squeezed. There was no satisfying “snap” or “crack” when breaking them apart. Instead, it sounded more like snapping a piece of Styrofoam. Biscotti Gushers also didn’t have the sticky resistance I usually expect, and the grind was slightly inconsistent and fluffy, showing only subtle hints of that kinetic sand-like texture I look for. These differences are unusual, yes, but not off-putting, and overall I’d give Biscotti Gushers a soft pass on the Sticky Icky Test.
Starting at 175°C in my Venty, Heyday’s Biscotti Gushers delivers an early, bright flavour dominated by melony sweetness with a whisper of floral cream, though visible vapour doesn’t really kick in until 200°C. Even after taking it up to 210°C, the bud remained noticeably lighter in colour than typical ABV (Already Been Vaped) flower, a detail that stood out. The onset is smooth and uplifting, bringing a clear mood boost without drifting into raciness. It leaves me energised yet focused, with a clean sense of motivation and just enough body relaxation to keep things grounded. It’s the kind of functional, feel-good high that makes for a quietly confident start to the day.
Will I refill this prescription? Yes. As this was my first experience with live-dried flower, I’ll admit my initial reaction was: this flower is weird… like, hella weird. It doesn’t look or behave like any cannabis I’ve come across before, and I’m still figuring out how it ages, how best to store it, and how to really get the most out of it. That said, at $129, Heyday’s Biscotti Gushers genuinely surprised me. I expected a heavy, end-of-day Indica, but instead found a clear-headed, upbeat high that’s quietly claimed the spot as my new wake-and-bake go-to. The high is happy and focused, with a subtle undercurrent of calm that keeps things smooth without killing my momentum. The effects might not linger for hours, but with the generous fill in the jar, I don’t mind circling back for a top-up. Not perfect, but definitely one I’ll be reaching for again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars)
(P.S. I would genuinely love to learn more about the live drying process. So, if any growers out there are listening/reading… Consider this my polite-but-shameless pitch for a farm tour. Seriously, I’ll bring snacks, we’ll do an “On The Road” podcast episode, and I’ll ask way too many questions!)
