Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and Heyday’s Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend Review | AusCannaReviews
Let's spill the cannabis tea!
Cannabis tea has a rich history, dating back centuries across various cultures. Traditionally brewed for its medicinal benefits, it was believed to alleviate ailments such as pain, nausea, and inflammation. Ancient civilizations in Asia and the Middle East valued cannabis tea for its soothing and therapeutic effects, incorporating it into holistic health practices and rituals.
Currently, there are only two cannabis teas available on the Australian market: Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and Heyday’s Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend. Crafted by Cann Compounding, both blends combine THCA flower with a thoughtfully selected mix of traditional herbs known for their relaxing and anti-inflammatory properties.
THCA is the non-psychoactive precursor to THC, found in raw and live cannabis plants. Unlike THC, THCA doesn’t produce the characteristic “high” because it doesn’t bind effectively to CB1 receptors in the brain, making it an appealing option for those seeking therapeutic benefits such as anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and anti-nausea effects without the mind-altering effects
Heyday’s Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend
Heyday’s Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend contains 5g Ultra Candy 20.2% CBD flower, 5g Green Gelato 14.5% THC flower, and a 20g mix of raw essential herbs known for their anti-inflammatory properties: liquorice, echinacea, plantain, calendula, and meadowsweet.
Liquorice: Known for its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties, liquorice contains Caryophyllene, which helps reduce inflammation and soothe the digestive system.
Echinacea: This herb is famous for boosting the immune system and reducing inflammation. It contains Humulene, which has strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Plantain: Rich in Pinene, plantain is known for its wound-healing and anti-inflammatory effects.
Calendula: This herb is celebrated for its skin-soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits. It contains Faradiol, which helps reduce inflammation and promotes healing.
Meadowsweet: Known for its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, meadowsweet contains Salicin, which acts similarly to aspirin in reducing pain and inflammation.
Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend
Heyday’s Relaxing Tea Blend contains 10g of Green Gelato 14.5% THC flower and a 20g mix of raw essential herbs known for their calming and anxiety-reducing properties: chamomile, passion flower, lemongrass, rose petals, and lavender buds.
Chamomile: This herb is famous for its calming effects, largely due to its high content of Bisabolol which has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
Passion Flower: Known for its sedative and anxiety-reducing effects, passion flower contains Myrcene which helps to calm the mind and promote relaxation.
Lemongrass: With its fresh, citrusy flavour, lemongrass is rich in Limonene which has anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits.
Rose Petals: These add a delicate floral touch to the tea and help reduce anxiety, partly due to the presence of Geraniol which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Lavender Buds: Lavender is another herb famous for its calming effects thanks to the terpene Linalool known for its calming and anxiety-reducing effects.
(The preparation method for these teas avoids heating the cannabinoids to the point of decarboxylation, resulting in a brew rich in acidic, water-soluble cannabinoids that are non-intoxicating.)
Review
Upon opening Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend, I’m greeted by a subtle aroma of fresh hay, mingled with the scents of their selected raw herbal ingredients.
The Anti-Inflammatory blend’s strong flavours of liquorice and echinacea made it a bit too earthy for my taste, so I used it less than planned. Despite this, I noticed some positive effects, particularly in how it gently calmed inflammation. My cheeks, prone to rosacea, appeared slightly less red, showing a subtle improvement in my skin.
The Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend is right up my alley, featuring classic nighttime ingredients like chamomile, rose petals, and lavender buds. I incorporated it into my bedtime routine by having two to three cups starting about two hours before bed. Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend has helped manage my stress and anxiety, making it easier to unwind and prepare for sleep and over time, I’ve noticed an improvement in my ability to fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.
Neither tea blend had a very noticeable cannabis taste.
(Below is a video of what the Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend looked like after being steeped for 15 minutes.)
Will I refill this prescription? Yes (but only the Relaxing Blend). It’s worth noting that, because I suffer from First Pass Effect, the full impact of orally consumed substances can be diminished for me. This means that while I experienced some relaxation and improved sleep with Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and noticed subtle effects on inflammation with the Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend, it’s challenging to determine how much of these benefits were due to the cannabis versus the effects of the herbs and their terpenes. However, Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend offer gentle, natural ways to manage stress, anxiety, insomnia, and inflammation without any psychoactive effects. At $80/30g or $2.67/g, Heyday’s Relaxing Herbal Tea Blend and Anti-Inflammatory Tea Blend aren’t really any more expensive than having a cuppa at the local cafe.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 out of 5 stars)
***Occasionally, I would notice a tightness in the back of my throat when consuming these cannabis teas. I believe this reaction is related to my allergy to hemp hearts.***
