Review
Opening my 10-gram white plastic tub of Kind Medical’s Berry Animal (batch 000322), I’m met with a gentle waft of sweet berries wrapped in a creamy earthiness that lingers just beneath the surface.
My tub held mostly round, dense, medium-sized buds with a solid structure. Predominantly olive green, they were generously dusted with rust-coloured pistils, adding a warm contrast to their appearance.
Kind Medical’s Berry Animal has a tackier texture and fluffs up beautifully in the grinder, but it doesn’t pass my Sticky Icky Test as the buds fall off my finger when squeezed rather than gently rolling away, which often points to trichome head damage.
Viewed under a loupe, Berry Animal’s trichomes on the outer surface appeared mostly cloudy, with many showing signs of wear, likely from handling or packaging. Inside the bud, the trichome heads were more intact, with a noticeable number displaying a deeper amber hue
Starting at 175C in my Venty, Kind Medical’s Berry Animal delivers a creamy berry flavour on inhalation that is a blend of strawberries and blueberries, paired with an herbal and earthy, soft sage-like finish on the exhale. As I step it up to 210C, more and more of the earthy and herbal notes come forward, giving way to a spiciness in the back of my throat. Despite its sativa dominance, Berry Animal doesn’t push too far into raciness or over-stimulation. The onset is gentle yet uplifting, bringing a calm and focused buzz. As my medicating session progresses, Berry Animal’s effects stay bright but gradually soften into something more balanced and grounded.
Kind Medical’s Berry Animal would be suitable for daytime use or for winding down in the evening without couchlock.
Will I refill this prescription? No. Berry Animal is a clear step up for Kind Medical, displaying one of the best trim jobs I’ve seen on any of their flowers, with zero excess stem. However, at $149, while it’s an enjoyable vape, it feels a bit muted and manhandled for the price point.
