Lyphe Australia’s Aelleve WF Balance 10:15 MH is the cultivar Mango Haze, a Sativa dominant hybrid that’s 10% THC and 15% CBD. Mango Haze is greenhouse grown under the Canadian sun and harvested by hand. According to Canna Reviews her dominate terpenes are Caryophyllene, Myrcene, Ocimene. (I couldn’t find a COA.)
Mango Haze was developed by Mr. Nice Seeds, a renowned seed bank based in the Netherlands. This cultivar is a parallel line to Super Silver Haze (SSH) having the same Haze father while the mother is a sister of the SSH. (Accordingly, the genetic makeup of this cultivar is 25% Northern Lights #5, 25% Skunk #1 and 50% Haze.) Mango Haze is known to have a unique flavour profile with hints of mango, along with uplifting and energising effects. According to Leafly the most abundant terpenes found in Mango Haze are Terpinolene, Myrcene and Caryophyllene.
Bonus… Mango Haze also earns praise for its resilience against mould.
***Full disclosure the genetics part of this review is a copy and paste from my review of Promethean BioPharma’s SSH.***
Northern Lights, considered one of the most famous cultivars of all time was created by crossing Afghani with Thai. She is a pure indica beloved for her resinous buds, fast flowering, and resilience while growing. Although Northern Lights first showed up in Seattle, Washington in the 70s she wasn’t perfected until the mid-80s in Holland by Nevil Schoenmakers of The Seed Bank. There are 11 different versions of Northern Lights, with numbers 1, 2, and 5 becoming the most popular. Winning Best Indica in 1988 and 1989, followed by first place in 1990 at the High Times Cannabis Cup Northern Lights is known for its euphoric and relaxing effects. She is recommended for patients suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene.
Haze also known as "Original Haze," "OG Haze," "Haze OG," and "Haze Brothers," is known for its high-energy and creative effects. Originating in the 60s in Santa Cruz, California Haze has been a staple in the cannabis industry for decades. She is recommended for the treatment of depression, stress, and bipolar disorder, but also for digestive issues, lack of appetite, and inflammation. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene.
Skunk #1, also referred to as the “Original Skunk #1”, is a cultivar created by David Watson, also known as “Sam the Skunkman”, that serves as the genetic backbone for many of today’s cannabis cultivars. Sources trace her origins back to California and the 70s. She’s present in countless crossbreeds and is a descendant of an Afghani landrace cultivar crossed with Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold. She was one of the first well-known indoor cannabis cultivars and has won several awards, including first place (Cultivator’s Choice) at the inaugural High Times Cannabis Cup in 1988. She produces a head high that is energetic and creative and a body high that is calm and soothing. She is recommended for treating anxiety and depression, as well as chronic pain, headaches, and lack of appetite. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Limonene, and Pinene.
Review
Upon opening my 10-gram tub of Lyphe Australia’s Aelleve WF Balance 10:15 MH Mango Haze (Batch 90059), I'm instantly greeted by a potent scent reminiscent of young, unripe mangoes with a slight earthy undertone.
The dense and spongy buds were olive to dark green in colour, had good trichome coverage and ample amber pistils. This is a flower that fluffs up beautifully coming out of my grinder displaying that distinctive kinetic sand characteristic. Mango Haze had no excessive stems and easily passed the Sticky Icky Test, even though there was no humidity pack in my tub.
Starting at 165C in my Venty, Mango Haze tasted tropical and a little sweet. As I pushed towards 195C, I rarely went above 205C with this cultivar, Mango Haze produced more and more robust vape clouds making it a really enjoyable vape. I wouldn’t exactly describe Mango Haze as “relaxing” as the effects felt more calming to me but I would absolutely say she was euphoric and clearheaded.
Will I refill this prescription? No, at $135 Lyphe Australia’s Aelleve WF Balance 10:15 MH Mango Haze is my very first balanced flower, one I was so willing to try because I’m such a big fan of SSH. While I did enjoy vaping Mango Haze more often than not I found myself mixing it with other flowers and although it effectively delivered calming effects, it fell short of quieting my tendency to overthink, plus it lacked the focused clarity that I particularly appreciate in SSH.
Doing these reviews I’ve come to realize I’m happiest around the 17%-23% THC mark with the occasional toe dip on either side and I think if this flower was 15% THC and 10% CBD instead of the other way around I’d be refilling it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 out of 5 stars)
**The first time Lyphe Australia’s Aelleve WF Balance 10:15 MH Mango Haze was brought into my rotation it gave me faint headaches. However, later when it was rotated back in, the headaches did not return.**
