Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff is a 30% THC Indica-leaning medicinal cannabis flower created by crossing Sunset Sherbert and Face Off. Part of the Canadian Craft Cannabis Company, Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff is grown hydroponically in water sourced from mountain streams and glaciers on Vancouver Island, British Colombia. Harvested and trimmed by hand before undergoing a 4-6 week cold-curing process, Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff’s dominant terpenes are Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Linalool, followed by Humulene, and Myrcene.
Sunset Sherbert is an Indica-dominant hybrid created by crossing Girl Scout Cookies and Pink Panties. Originally bred by Mr Sherbinski, Sunset Sherbert has a sweet fruity, and honey aroma and a flavour reminiscent of fruity yogurt with earthy undertones. Typically high in Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Myrcene Sunset Sherbert is a favourite among patients in the US for treating stress, pain, depression and anxiety because it is said to offer a cerebral boost paired with full-body relaxation.
Face Off, also known as "OG Face Off" and "Face Off OG Kush," is an Indica-dominant hybrid that originated in Southern California in the late 1990s. Bred by Archive Seed Bank from a standout OG Kush phenotype, Face Off is known for its powerful head-high and full-body relaxation. Typically high in Myrcene, Limonene, and Caryophyllene, Face Off would be recommended for patients trying to manage symptoms of chronic pain, inflammation, stress, loss of appetite, and migraines. However, it is said that even the most experienced patients may find medicating with Face Off challenging due to its intense psychoactive effects.
Review
Opening my 15-gram amber glass jar of Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff (batch 000145) I’m greeted by earthy spicey scents with subtle hints of citrus and berries with the citrus notes becoming more pronounced after grinding.
My glass jar held mostly medium-sized buds, varying in colour from light to dark green. Each bud was generously coated in trichomes and accented with rust-coloured pistils. Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff started dense and spongy, passing my Sticky Icky Test with its kinetic sand-like texture. However, over time it lost some of its freshness and began to fall flat. There was no humidity pack in my glass jar.
While some of Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff’s buds were carefully trimmed… Others were noticeably less polished.
Starting at 185C in my Venty, Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff provides a smooth, enjoyable medicating session with robust clouds right from the start. The flavour is earthy on the inhale, with a hint of lemon on the exhale, turning slightly spicy in the back of the throat around 205C. Sunset Faceoff’s effects kick in quickly, delivering a wave of full-body relaxation followed by a calming sense of happy sedation that borders on spacey. Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff is best suited for an early to late evening slot in my rotation.
Will I refill this prescription? No. At $195 for 15 grams ($13/gram) Mystery Mountain’s Sunset Faceoff is priced similarly to other flowers on the Australian medicinal market. The embossed label and amber glass jars show attention to detail. Sunset Faceoff’s trim job? Not so much and while it worked wonders for lulling me to sleep, I often woke up feeling groggy and a little "meh" the next morning.
This might be a potentially controversial take… I’m not a fan of the 15-gram weight. While at first, it seems like I’m getting an extra five grams, what a 15-gram jar translates into for me is one less flower in rotation. Believe it or not, the right rotation is essential for managing my tolerance and ensuring balanced medicating sessions. Until we transition to an adult-use market, being short a flower in my rotation adds more stress than it’s worth.

I’m not overly a fan of 15g jars/tubs either.
