Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze is a 23% THC Sativa dominant medicinal cannabis cultivar created by crossing Skunk Haze and Northern Lights #5. The ‘Phytoca Cut,’ is grown by renowned cannabis geneticist Shantibaba (Scott Blakey) in Switzerland and comes from the same genetics used by top Dutch seed banks. Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze is watered, harvested, hang-dried, slow-cured, trimmed, and bottled by hand. Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze dominated terpenes are Terpinolene, Caryophyllene, Ocimene, Humulene, and Myrcene.
Skunk Haze, created by Mr. Nice Seeds, is a hybrid cultivar derived from Skunk and Haze, known for its moderate potency and long-lasting effects. Its aromatic profile features an earthy musk with a hint of citrus. Medical patients in the US say that when using Skunk Haze they can maintain clarity of mind and body. High in Myrcene, Pinene and Caryophyllene, Skunk Haze is typically recommended for those trying to manage stress, anxiety, and pain-related symptoms, including body aches. However, be warned Skunk Haze may cause side effects such as dry mouth and dry eyes.
I first covered Northern Lights in my Promethean BioPharma’s Super Silver Haze review. Northern Lights is considered one of the most famous cultivars of all time and was created by crossing Afghani with Thai. She is a pure indica beloved for her resinous buds, fast flowering, and resilience while growing. Although Northern Lights first showed up in Seattle, Washington in the 70s she wasn’t perfected until the mid-80s in Holland by Nevil Schoenmakers of The Seed Bank. There are 11 different versions of Northern Lights, with numbers 1, 2, and 5 becoming the most popular. Winning Best Indica in 1988 and 1989, followed by first place in 1990 at the High Times Cannabis Cup Northern Lights is known for its euphoric and relaxing effects. She is recommended for patients suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene.
Review
Opening my white plastic 10-gram tub of Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze (Batch 240327) I’m greeted by the aroma of my two favourite terpenes… Terpinolene and Ocimene! Once that settles, a citrusy pine scent emerges, along with a hint of something more earthy.
Amnesia Haze’s buds are some of the most beautifully trimmed buds on the Australian medicinal market. Mostly olive green with a few darker green leaves mixed in, the buds displayed a generous coating of trichomes and long, whispy terracotta-coloured pistils.
Amnesia Haze’s buds were medium to large in size, firm, and sprang back with vigour when squeezed. Fluffing up nicely coming out of my grinder with that telltale kinetic sand texture, Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze effortlessly passes the Sticky Icky Test.
Starting at 180°C, Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze offers a citrusy flavour reminiscent of fresh lemons, complemented by earthy and woody notes, floral undertones, and a subtle sweetness. The smooth, robust vape clouds deliver almost instantaneous uplifting and euphoric effects, boosting my mood and energy levels while enhancing my creativity and focus. By the end of my medicating session, Amnesia Haze would calm my overactive mind, reducing my stress and anxiety. This cultivar would be best suited for an early morning to early afternoon slot in my rotation.
Will I refill this prescription? Yes but… Every now and then, Amnesia Haze would absolutely live up to its name, causing me to space out completely. By “space out,” I mean I’d be mid-conversation with someone and suddenly lose my train of thought, leaving me staring blankly at them. Teenage me, even 20-something me would have found this hilarious and just laughed and laughed about it for hours. Forty-something me can ride with the punches but doesn’t appreciate the unpredictability of it all. In addition to that, if you’ve been around these parts for a while you know I try to avoid anything that triggers the munchies and while this cultivar didn’t make me ravenous, I did catch myself aimlessly grazing. At $145 Phytoca’s Amnesia Haze is a cultivar that will be saved for creative cooking days around the house!

I love your reviews. I look forward to them every week.
I’m glad you said it, I discovered it about two weeks ago. Amnesia Haze gives me the munchies. It was so noticeable I had to go and research to see what was in it that did that. I rarely get the munchies. This one was very noticeable and until you said it I wasn’t sure if it was me. I agree too, I was using this one last week and was saying to myself, why do I feel so out of it? My usual cultivar in that spot is Ultra Sour, I love the Ultra Sour, never gives me the munchies.
One thing I can say though is once I got used to it, it’s like Amnesia Haze has a groove that you have to get into and now I’m aware of it, I haven’t succumbed to its munchie inducing characteristics. I don’t think doctors understand these subtle nuances that can make a strain not suitable for certain times and applications.
As a vegan I think eating lots of whole plants and a high fibre diet really helps to stop the munchies.
