Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze is listed as two different cultivars; on Canna Reviews it’s listed as Super Silver Haze and on honahlee it’s listed as Mother’s Lilac Diesel #13. After emailing Promethean BioParma, they have confirmed that the cultivar was “assessed and supplied as Super Silver Haze.”
Super Silver Haze was bred by Green House Seeds by crossing Northern Lights, Haze, and Skunk #1. Busting on to the scene in the late 90s she took first place at the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1997, 1998, and 1999. She is an energetic, long-lasting body high recommended for patients suffering from stress, lack of appetite and nausea. Typically her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene. However, Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze’s dominant terpenes are Terpinolene, Ocimene, and Myrcene with a total terpene content of 3.58% and a THC level of 17%.
Northern Lights, considered one of the most famous cultivars of all time was created by crossing Afghani with Thai. She is a pure indica beloved for her resinous buds, fast flowering, and resilience while growing. Although Northern Lights first showed up in Seattle, Washington in the 70s she wasn’t perfected until the mid-80s in Holland by Nevil Schoenmakers of The Seed Bank. There are 11 different versions of Northern Lights, with numbers 1, 2, and 5 becoming the most popular. Winning Best Indica in 1988 and 1989, followed by first place in 1990 at the High Times Cannabis Cup Northern Lights is known for its euphoric and relaxing effects. She is recommended for patients suffering from stress, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Limonene.
Haze also known as "Original Haze," "OG Haze," "Haze OG," and "Haze Brothers," is known for its high-energy and creative effects. Originating in the 60s in Santa Cruz, California Haze has been a staple in the cannabis industry for decades. She is recommended for the treatment of depression, stress, and bipolar disorder, but also for digestive issues, lack of appetite, and inflammation. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene.
Skunk #1, also referred to as the “Original Skunk #1”, is a cultivar created by David Watson, also known as “Sam the Skunkman”, that serves as the genetic backbone for many of today’s cannabis cultivars. Sources trace her origins back to California and the 70s. She’s present in countless crossbreeds and is a descendant of an Afghani landrace cultivar crossed with Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold. She was one of the first well-known indoor cannabis cultivars and has won several awards, including first place (Cultivator’s Choice) at the inaugural High Times Cannabis Cup in 1988. She produces a head high that is energetic and creative and a body high that is calm and soothing. She is recommended for treating anxiety and depression, as well as chronic pain, headaches, and lack of appetite. Her dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Limonene, and Pinene.
Review
When I opened my 10-gram tub of Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze (batch TCA022201), I first noticed how tightly packed the spade-shaped, dark green reddish brown buds were. Next was the fragrant aroma of pine, citrus, and flowers that was paired with a slightly gassy scent.
The buds were dense and spongy but could’ve been trimmed with a touch more love, the vast majority were around the one-gram mark for weight, the largest of which was 1.04 grams. Sadly, my tub was 0.11 of a gram short.
Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze does not pass the Sticky Icky Test. My tub didn’t have a humidity pack inside and came with an original expiration date of 04/23. (I can’t help but think this contributed to the failure of the Sticky Icky Test.) As per the company via email, “The shelf life of this product has been extended to 2 years based on current testing data, so the current expiry date of the product is April 2024. Therefore, it is still safe to consume the product.”
Starting at 170C Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze is oh so smooth. Every time I vaped this cultivar (0.15 of a gram in my Mighty+) approximately 10 to 15 minutes into my medicating sessions I was pumped and ready to tackle the day. Anxiety… nope! Stress… negative!
Once I settled into her effects I could easily focus on the tasks at hand be it, doing research for my articles, getting creative and cooking for my family, or simply taking our dog on a focused walk. Promethean BioParma’s Super Silver Haze reminds me of cannabis from my early 20s. Sure she’s pricey at $170 for a 10-gram tub but to describe her in one word… Fun.
Promethean BioPharma’s Super Silver Haze is a shining example of what trading THC for higher terpene levels can do. If she had passed the Sticky Icky Test and was a touch cheaper I’d be adding her to my favourite’s list.
Actually, who am I kidding? This girl is awesome and I’m absolutely going to add her to my favourite’s list! She’s just not going to be heavy rotation because of her price point.

This strain bring back memories of Amsterdam, breakfast at the Greenhouse. What used to be fun back in the day with this strain was you could buy this strain, then buy all its genetic strains and mix them, and then compare the two.
Great article, I like the genetics, brings back memories. I like the packaging and the logo too.
