Tasmanian Botanics's Huon is an in-house bred cultivar named Chunky Wombat, a balanced hybrid of 9% THC and 11% CBD. A cross between White Widow and Charlotte’s Web, Chunky Wombat’s dominant terpenes are Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Terpinolene.
I first covered White Widow just over a year ago with my review of Tasmanian Botanics’s Opal. It remains one of my most popular reviews to date, and I highly recommend giving it a read whenever you have the opportunity because it tells the story of someone very influential within the cannabis community who just so happens to be Australian. However, for a quick recap, White Widow is typically high in Terpinolene, Ocimene, Myrcene, and Caryophyllene and is recommended for patients trying to manage symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, mild pain, muscle tension, and insomnia.
Charlotte's Web named after epilepsy patient Charlotte Figi, epitomizes cannabis' therapeutic potential and was bred by the Stanley Brothers. This cultivar boasts high CBD content and low THC levels, offering therapeutic benefits without significant psychoactive effects. Charlotte’s Web gained popularity after being featured on CNN’s Weed 2. With a flavour profile characterized by earthy tones, hints of pine, and subtle citrus notes, Charlotte's Web is typically high in Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene and is commonly recommended for patients seeking relief from various conditions, including epilepsy, chronic pain, inflammation, anxiety, and stress.

Opening my 10-gram tub of Tasmanian Botanics’s Chunky Wombat (batch Q0445) I’m immediately greeted with an earthy scent paired with fruity and floral notes and a slight hint of peppery spicyness.
Chunky Wombat is part of Tasmanian Botanics’s Sunflower range meaning it has been cultivated outdoors and this fact shines through in the overall look of the buds. Ranging in colour from light to dark green the buds had a rustic homegrown feel to them.
The majority of buds in my tub were medium-sized, with the largest being 1.81 grams. They were uniformly covered in trichomes and adorned with light orange pistils. Chunky Wombat easily passes the Sticky Icy Test. My only criticism... I would’ve preferred a slightly tighter trim and a tad fewer sugar leaves.
Starting at 170C in my Venty, Chunky Wombat is a delightful experience. She has a sweet grape flavour upon inhalation that transitions into earthy tones upon exhalation before gradually developing a hint of spiciness in the back of the throat around 205C. Chunky Wombat is clear-headed and relaxing. It provided me with a sense of breathing space, which made me feel less reactionary and a little more at peace with my chaotic surroundings if that makes sense.
Will I refill this prescription? Yes. Chunky Wombat has been a bit of a game-changer for me—it's the first CBD flower that hasn’t given me a headache, which is a huge win right off the bat.
Most of the time, I know if a flower is going to be a hit or miss within the first few whiffs and Chunky Wombat was no exception. I wrote the review part of this article before I had confirmation on genetics and terpene profile. However, once I got that info, everything just clicked. Turns out, Chunky Wombat is high in Terpinolene, a terpene that always reels me in. I’m also a big fan of White Widow’s genetics. With a very reasonable price point of $95 for 10 grams, Chunky Wombat is likely to remain a staple in my rotation for the foreseeable future.
