Tasmanian Botanics’s THC 23 Jade is an Indica dominant hybrid cross between Blueberry OG and GG#4. She’s Aussie grown in coco, under a hybrid light source and harvested by hand.

Blueberry OG is an old-school cultivar often referred to as Blueberry Kush and is a cross between the 2000 High Times Cannabis Cup winner Blueberry and the legendary OG Kush. It’s typically high in both CBD and Myrcene.

GG#4 is short for Gorilla Glue #4. This cultivar has multiple parents due to extensive backcrossing. Sour Diesel, Sour Dubb, Chem’s Sister, and Chocolate Diesel all make appearances on GG#4’s family tree. This is another award-winning cultivar taking first place at the Los Angeles and Michigan Cannabis Cups in 2014 along with the High Times Jamaican World Cup later the same year. GG#4 is typically high in Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Limonene.

Tasmanian Botanics’s Jade has a high Myrcene and Limonene content and is recommended for pain, anxiety, and insomnia.

Review

I specifically requested Tasmanian Botanics’s Jade because I was a fan of Blueberry Kush back in the day. A cultivar floating around Vancouver in the early 2000s, if you were lucky enough to get your hands on some, you’d best describe it as “one hitter quitter”.

Similar to White Widow (Tasmanian Botanics’s Opal), I was first introduced to Blueberry Kush by “The Guy”, an elusive boutique seller who acquired his goods from hippies on the islands just off the Vancouver coast. Do I know for a fact it was Blueberry Kush? No. However, I clearly remember “The Guy’s” Blueberry Kush was the first time I’d ever had cannabis that smelt like something beyond the typical smell associated with the plant; there was the aroma of fresh blueberries and pine and this 20-something couldn’t get enough of it!

When I pulled back the freshness seal on my 10-gram tub of Tasmanian Botanics’s Jade batch number Q0353 did it smell like blueberries? No, not really. It was more of a sweet, floral scent mixed with hints of pine.

Jade comfortably passed the Sticky Icky Test. The buds were light green, evenly coated with yellow hairs, spongy and dense. The tub was mostly comprised of small to medium-sized buds. However, there were three larger buds, the largest of which was 1.89 grams.

Starting at 170C all the way up to 210C Jade is a beautifully smooth vape and is quickly becoming my go-to cultivar for transitioning from day to night. She melts away my anxiety and quiets my overthinking mind, but still leaves me clearheaded. Jade’s relaxing and euphoric but not in a couch-locking way. This is a cultivar I’d toss in my Mighy+ for a medicating session before I went out with friends for an evening of great food, awesome music, and excellent conversation.
