West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain Flower Review | AusCannaReviews
West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain is a 26% THC hybrid-Indica leaning medicinal cannabis flower. Cultivated by Mill Creek Growth, in Ontario Canada Hawaiian Rain’s lineage is derived from London Pound Mints and Jealousy and boasts a terpene total profile of 4.57% dominated by Limonene, Caryophyllene, Germacrene B, and Linalool.
London Pound Mints was created by crossing London Pound Cake #75 and Kush Mints #11. Typically high in Limonene, Caryophyllene, and Linalool London Pound Mints is said to have a unique flavour profile that has sweet, floral, and berry notes that give way to full-bodied earthy spice notes. London Pound Mints would be recommended for patients trying to manage symptoms of mild to moderate pain, depression, stress and anxiety.
I first covered Jealousy in my review of Aura Therapeutics's Dymond LR (Live Resin) Jealousy cartridge. However, for a quick refresher… Jealousy is a balanced hybrid originally bred by Seed Junky Genetics. It’s a cross between Sherbet Bx1 and Cookies Gelato #41. With a super sweet and creamy fruity candy flavour with a sour citrusy overtone that intensifies upon exhale, Jealousy’s most dominant terpenes are typically Myrcene, Caryophyllene, Limonene, Linalool, and Farnesene. This cultivar would be recommended for patients who are suffering from conditions such as depression, chronic stress, mood swings, chronic fatigue and nausea or appetite loss.
Review
Opening my 10-gram black plastic tub West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain (batch 241027) I’m greeted by a complex mix of gassy, candy, and sour aromas underpinned by slightly sweet notes.
Hawaiian Rain’s buds displayed a mix of deep greens and rich purples, along with a thick coating of trichomes but had minimal orange pistils. The largest bud in the batch weighed in at 1.59 grams, though most were on the smaller side, ranging between 1 gram and 0.5 gram.
The buds were spongy with a slow bounce-back which is an indication they were a little on the moist side and probably could’ve cured a touch longer. However, when ground, West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain has that kinetic sand-like consistency—clumping together slightly before falling apart with a soft touch and thus just barely passes my Sticky Icky Test.
Starting at 180C in my Venty West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain has a layered flavour profile where each inhale pulls something different. First the sweetness, then the gas, followed by an underlying sour funk. The vapour at 195C brings out thick, robust clouds with an earthy muskyness while bumping up to 210C Hawaiian Rain remains smooth, without any excessive harshness. For effects, Hawaiian Rain is clearheaded leaning towards calming and soothing, settling in gently without being overwhelming. Hawaiian Rain eases my stress and anxiety levels, along with some muscle tensions, letting my body relax while keeping my mind in a mellow space. West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain would best be suited for winding down towards the end of the workday into the early evening to help take the edge off without feeling sedated.
Will I refill this prescription? No. West Coast Palms’s Hawaiian Rain is a better-than-average medicinal cannabis flower, offering a solid balance of aroma, flavour, and effects. However, at $160, it’s not unique to justify a spot in my medicinal rotation. In a highly competitive market, other options deliver more for less.
