Alfie Therapeutics’s Queen Sangria is a 60/40 Sativa-leaning hybrid cross between Mimosa and Royal Kush. Relatively new on the Australian medicinal market Queen Sangria was first bred by California's Emerald Mountain Legacy and is a rare Limonene and Pinene dominate cultivar**. According to Canna Reviews Alfie Therapeutics’s Queen Sangria is Cultivated Canadian Organic Certified, and Clean Green Certified, meaning it’s vegan, organic and sustainably grown.
Queen Sangria took first place at the 2022 Canadian GrowUp Cannabis Cup.
Mimosa sometimes called Purple Mimosa is a hybrid cultivar made by crossing Clementine with Purple Punch. A compact plant that still produces large yields Mimosa is renowned for her frosty buds with dark purple and dark green leaves mixed with sprinkles of orange stigmas. In small doses, Mimosa produces happy and uplifting effects but in larger doses can be relaxing and somewhat sedating. Typically high in Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene Mimosa is recommended for patients suffering from stress and mild to moderate cases of depression.
Royal Kush is sometimes referred to as a “king among hybrids” and for good reason as she is a cross between Skunk#1 and Afghani cultivars. A hard-hitting Indica Royal Kush produces euphoric and uplifting effects on the front end with creeper full-body relaxation on the back end. Typically high in Myrcene, Pinene, and Caryophyllene Royal Kush is recommended for patients trying to manage symptoms of chronic stress, nausea, chronic pain, insomnia, and mild to moderate cases of depression.
Review
Before I opened my 10-gram tub of Alfie Therapeutics’s Queen Sangria I noticed that the bottom was puffed out. Upon popping the freshness seal there was an underlying funky scent I couldn’t put my finger on (kind of cheesy/kind of gassy) mixed with the typical piney and earthy aromas commonly associated with cannabis.
About 5 to 10 minutes after opening my tub as I started to do my dosing caps for the week I began to develop a runny nose. By the time I was done (about 30 minutes after opening Queen Sangria), I was completely stuffed up and the corner of my right eye was red and itchy where I had touched it a few minutes earlier. At first, I thought it was a one-off event but sure enough, when I opened the tub again about eight days later I had the same reaction.
(I’ve mentioned on several occasions that one of my migraine triggers is pungent aromas which has led to me having a super sensitive nose. So this reaction might just be a me thing and not something that would affect everyone.)
Queen Sangria’s buds are dense, small to medium in size, olive in colour, and beautifully coated in trichomes and orange stigmas. While Queen Sangria was fairly tacky when I first opened my tub she struggled to fully pass the second part of the Sticky Icky Test probably because there was no humidity pack and the buds had started to become rather brittle. Similar to Phytoca’s Zurple Punch there was an excessive amount of shake at the bottom of my tub towards the end.
Starting at 165C Alfie Therapeutics’s Queen Sangria is smooth and has a slightly soapy piney taste. On the front end, her effects are energetic and euphoric but as she settles she is relaxing and moderately munchie-inducing. She’s not focused enough for first thing in the morning instead Queen Sangria would fit into an early afternoon rotation spot or possibly something I’d reach for before going out for an evening with friends.
At $175 Alfie Therapeutics’s Queen Sangria is an enjoyable medicating session and technically ticks all the boxes. But personally, I try to avoid anything that makes me hungry and after having a mild allergic reaction twice which may or may not be related this isn’t a medication I’ll be refilling.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3 out of 5 stars)
**Remember Limonene paired with high amounts of Pinene may increase anxiety symptoms.**

Shame about your reaction. Having no sense of smell myself my whole life, over the years I've had a few different strains do this to me also. But since starting MC 12 months ago, only Levin 26 Indica has caused that same reaction.
Another thorough and great review. I’m a bit disappointed though, I was thinking of putting this in my next rotation in my morning day spot. I like a good Sativa dominant strain. I’ve been using Ventura Dawg, which funny enough you gave three stars also. I agreed with your conclusion on that one also, it’s not a super clear headed strain. I have only had Sativite Okanagan and the Ventura in that spot. But like you what I’m after is an energetic clear headed strain with focus. Got any suggestions? I do like the look of Queen Sangria, she has a nice looking flower. Sorry it didn’t work for you.
