Phytoca's Cherry Skunk is a medicinal cannabis hybrid with 27% THC, resulting from the crossbreeding of Skunk Dawg and Poppa Cherry. This cultivar is developed using flowers cloned from original genetic stock and cultivated in greenhouses in South Africa. Grown in a 70/30 Coco Perlite mix, it is nurtured under a combination of natural and LED lighting. Cherry Skunk’s dominant terpenes are Limonene, Caryophyllene, Myrcene, and Linalool.
Skunk Dawg is a cannabis hybrid renowned for its potent aroma and unique flavour profile, featuring a skunky and earthy scent with undertones of diesel and citrus. This cultivar combines the genetics of Super Skunk and Chemdawg and has a terpene profile that includes Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Humulene, contributing to its complex scent and potential therapeutic properties. Skunk Dawg is said to provide a mix of relaxing and uplifting effects. Patients may find Skunk Dawg helpful for managing stress, anxiety, and mild depression. It may also offer pain relief and stimulate appetite, making it a versatile option for various medicinal needs.
Poppa Cherry is a cannabis cultivar with a mysterious heritage, making its exact lineage challenging to pinpoint. Nevertheless, it is known for its distinctively fruity and sweet aroma, which evokes ripe cherries with a touch of earthiness. As a hybrid cultivar, Poppa Cherry typically provides a balanced blend of uplifting cerebral effects and soothing physical relaxation. Medical patients may find it offers relief from symptoms such as stress, anxiety, mild depression, and pain or muscle tension.
Review
Opening my 10-gram tub of Phytoca’s Cherry Skunk (batch BC23032801) I was greeted with the scent of cherries paired with earthy notes and a slight hint of sweetness.
Cherry Skunk’s nicely trimmed dense buds were small to medium in size, light green in colour with a few darker green leaves, and evenly coated in both trichomes and orange pistils.
Although tacky Phytoca’s Cherry Skunk does not pass the Sticky Icky Test, lacking that distinctive kinetic sand characteristic. Similar to Aura Therapeutics’s Key Lime Kush, Cherry Skunk also seemed to lose its terpene richness and aromatic potency, becoming quite muted over time.
Starting at 180C in my Venty Phytoca’s Cherry Skunk tastes fruity but not as cherry as it was on the nose. Her effects kick in swiftly, delivering a sharp energy boost and a wave of euphoria. Creeping closer to 205C, Cherry Skunk transitions into a full-body relaxing high without sacrificing its initial energetic lift. One dosing cap (a dosing cap for me is 0.15 grams) was enough to ease the tension in my muscles and melt most of my stress away. More suitable for mid-day consumption, I found myself reaching for Cherry Skunk when it came time to do physically demanding yet mundane tasks like weeding the garden.
Will I refill this prescription? I'm on the fence, though to be honest, I've already picked up a second tub. This was one of the first flowers I tried after my tolerance break, and initially, I was mixing it with Tasmanian Botanics's Huon. The two blended well together, offering a happy, fruity, and relaxing experience. I bought the second tub to see if Cherry Skunk could hold its own, and it did. However, I found it better suited to my needs when mixed with Huon, making the $150 for 10 grams a bit pricey. As a result, it's more of a flower I would purchase occasionally.

I didn’t realise you were reviewing this one. Great review as usual. I really liked the look of this one and was keen to try it. I was a shame it was so dry. I will have to check my batch number and see if it’s the same as yours. I found that mine went dry and lacklustre pretty fast. For the price it was a shame. Although I used it again last night and the effects are great. I actually quite like the effects. A four star was pretty fair. I think this was a three for me.
