High Country’s KK Mints (Khalifa Kush Mints) is a 25% THC Indica hybrid cross between Khalifa Kush and The Menthol. Only one batch is currently available on the Australian medicinal market, batch 230563.
According to KhalifaKush.com “The Khalifa Kush (KK) strain was developed for Wiz back in the early 10's, tailored specifically for his personal tastes and held closely within his private stashes in Los Angeles, California.” (Wiz being Wiz Khalifa an American rapper who’s always been candid about his cannabis use.) The first Khalifa Kush flower sale was in 2016 at Tryke's Reef Dispensaries in the Southwestern US. Khalifa Kush is derived from an unknown OG cultivar. Typically high in Limonene, Myrcene, and Caryophyllene Khalifa Kush is a favourite on the American medicinal scene for patients trying to manage stress, anxiety, and pain symptoms.
The Menthol is a slightly Indica leaning hybrid cultivar created by crossing Gelato 45 X [White Diesel X (High Octane X Jet Fuel)] cultivars. Similar genetics appear in Kind Medical’s Dulce (Jet Fuel Gelato) minus the White Diesel. This cultivar is known for its spicy minty taste with hints of black pepper and a slightly chemical aftertaste. The Menthol delivers an energizing experience on the front end and then gradually transitions into a soothing, sedative effect on the back end. This unique combination of effects offers potential relief for those managing symptoms of chronic pain, insomnia, stress or anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and mild depression or mood swings.
Review
Upon opening my 10-gram container of High Country's KK Mints, I was immediately struck by the visual appeal of the medication. Inside the black tub were meticulously trimmed, light green buds that were coated in an abundance of trichomes, paired with a slightly piney spicy menthol aroma.
However, not finding a humidity pack in the container was a bit of a bummer. Adding to that, there were over two grams of popcorn buds, which isn't a deal-breaker, but it does give a hint that there's some room for improvement.
In terms of bud texture, they were soft to the touch with minimal bounce back. While they did leave some residue on my fingers, they weren't tacky, meaning KK Mints did not pass the "Sticky Icky Test."
There were no dominant terpenes for High Country’s KK Mints included in the COA listed on Canna Reviews but my guess would be Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Linalool.
Starting at 170C, High Country’s KK Mints is smooth with a minty flavour being present but not overpowering. A single dosing cap (0.15 of a gram) in my Mighty+ works wonders melting away my stress and anxiety, leaving me cheerful and clearheaded. When I doubled the dose, KK Mint's effects transitioned into a more soothing and gently sedating medicating session. This cultivar would fit into a late afternoon to early evening position in my rotation.
The real question is, would I purchase High Country's KK Mints again? The answer is a maybe. KK Mints offers similar effects to Tasmanian Botanics' Jade and Chemovar's Premo OG Kush, both of which are already part of my regular rotation. However, at $160 for 10 grams, KK Mints is notably pricier than Premo OG Kush at $118 for 14 grams and Jade at $125 for 10 grams. Therefore, it doesn't quite make the cut as a staple in my rotation, but rather feels more like a special guest star that I'd consider when I have some extra cash to spare.

Nice, I’ve been looking forward to this one. I reckon that could work for me for my afternoon slot. I like the genetics. I have a couple of other suspects for that slot any thoughts on Grandiosa Jilly Bean or Sativite Woomera?
I went back over this review. Now that I have tried KK Mints, at first I think I believed the hype. The longer I sat on it the less impressed I became. It looks like one of my old tubs of Mac1. The buds are hard and dry. I don’t know how it happened but I was taking inventory of flower I was using and old tubs that I had stashed away. One of those tubs was Brooklyn by Cannatrek. Similar genetics, they share an ancestor. In my opinion the Brooklyn out did it by quite a bit. It felt stronger, even though it was an old tub it was still moist. Quite an oily flower. Gives very nice vapour from my mighty + and quite smooth. I have Premo OGK in my current rotation. It’s a favourite. It pairs nicely with the Brooklyn. The Brooklyn “Violet Fog” was a previous evening flower for me. It’s a great one for sleep. Could be worth a review? One flower that I would praise after this exploration is Alfie K Mints. It’s quite different to the KK Mints in its presentation. The flowers were much nicer in my tub of Alfie K Mints than the High Country KK Mints. There was more flavour, more aroma and just a delightful flower. So much so that I want another tub. I’m not sure that I could justify another tub of the KK not at the price. There are way better flowers out there at that price.
